Fineness is silver in parts per thousand, so each row is the pure-silver price scaled by its fineness: sterling, 925, is 92.5% silver. These are metal values only — a silversmith's price adds making charges and margin.

Precious metals are quoted per troy ounce, which is exactly 31.1034768 grams. The ordinary avoirdupois ounce used for food is about 28.35 g. They are different units with the same name, and dividing a spot price by the wrong one leaves you roughly 9% adrift — enough to put a borderline holding on the wrong side of the nisāb.
